Bar de Minazen – Unmissable!!
If there is only one thing you need to do on your holiday, it is to head down to the Ecluse de Minazen on the Blavet river. It is one of those special places that you dream of finding on holiday – a sanctuary where the locals go! A river beach on an island, a picturesque lock house and the rustic and tranquil Bar de Minezan.
A “Hidden Gem”!
And it is suitably hidden too! Just outside the hamlet of Minezan you might get a glimpse of the weir and the river beach from the main road running parallel to the Blavet river. There is some rough parking on the side of the road where you will see some cars parked and you might just spot the small sign tacked to a tree saying simply “Bar”! If you follow your instinct and pull over to park and explore you will find one of our “Hidden Gems”.
Picturesque countryside at its best
Take a walk across the weir (ecluse) with panoramic views of the river beach and the lock house, follow the pathway down the island and cross over the lock system to the Lock house and nestled behind it you fill find Bar de Minazen.
For a typically French summer afternoon, take a picnic down to the river beach and relax afterwards at the delightfully rustic Bar de Minazen. Sunday afternoons buzz with locals taking a stroll or a cycle after Sunday lunch.
While away the time watching patient fisherman or the world stroll by on foot, by bicycle or on boat.
Sheltered from the sun under the towering trees, Carole serves alcoholic beverages, soft drinks, tea or coffee together with ice cream and crisps.

If you are travelling from Rennes direction
No detour is required – after the bridge at Pont Augan, follow the original directions to Inzinzac-Lochrist . Just after the hamlet of Minazen, on the left hand side you will see a rough parking area on the side of the road and the weir through the trees. Park here and walk across the weir to reach the beach and the lock house. The bar is just after the lock house. When you have finished, just resume your directions.
